Are The Phillies World Series Contenders?

After many years with at least 91 losses, the Philadelphia Phillies are looking to make some noise.

With the additions of Jean Segura, Andrew McCutchen, David Robertson, and J.T. Realmuto the Phillies are planning to make the push to finish the season strong and push for October baseball. The addition of David Robertson to their bullpen should add some stability to a bullpen full of unproven arms

The Phillies finished 2018 with an 80-82 record with .494 win percentage. They were sitting 15 games above .500 percent in early August before it all went falling down.

Last year they had Odubel Herrera, Rhys Hoskins, and Maikel Franco leading the lines. With all their new additions, Aaron Nola and Jake Arrieta, and their returning talent, the Philadelphia Phillies have the tools necessary to repeat the first 4 months of the season. But just making it to October shouldn't be their primary goal.

But The Phillies do play in one of the hardest divisions in all of baseball, the NL EAST. The league where every team except the Marlins are looking to compete and make October. The Mets with their big spending, the Nationals with the best top of a rotation, and the Braves with their speed up rebuild are all competing for a spot in the postseason.

In reality we don't know if The Phillies will make the World Series or the Postseason. But J.T. Realmuto deserves something after finally leaving the Marlins.
