(New York) - Yankees RHP Masahiro Tanaka has been named the opening day starter vs the Baltimore Orioles on March 28th, according to manager Aaron Boone. This will be Tanaka’s 4th opening day as a Yankee, as he was the starter in 2015, 2016, and 2017. When Luis Severino went down with a rotator cuff injury, many fans believed Tanaka was a front-runner to be the opening day starter. Tanaka went 12-6 with a 3.75 ERA in 27 starts for the Yanks in 156.0 innings last season. Tanaka is entering his 6th season in the Bronx, and has posted a career 64-34 record with a 3.45 ERA in 824 1/3 innings.
